of highway 100 in cedar rapids means closing part of edgewood road northeast tonight. workers will put down pavement markings on the edgewood bridge over highway 100. that requires about two a-m. and traffic should be normal tomorrow morning. the d-o-t advises that drivers use blairs ferry and collins roads as well as 42nd street. the d-o-t now plans to open the new section of highway 100 sometime in mid- december. low gas prices and a challenging economy. that's why megabus is shutting down its service to coralville. the company is reducing its operations in chicago, and

temperatures. wind: w 20-40. high: 62 bruce and beth... in a kcrg t-v nine update... today a judge sentenced a homeless man to another 50 years in prison. a jury previously convicted murder . that earned him his first 50 year prison sentence. he killed two homeless people in cedar rapids just days apart in september of last year. police say he first killed raymond ursino after the two got into a fight in downtown. authorities let him go when the linn county attorney did not file charges, citing a lack of evidence. but just days later, he killed sharon mead near the coe college campus. the first african american to become a linn county supervisor took the oath of office today.
stacey walker is the newest member of the board. kevin mckeever, the first african american district court judge in iowa, swore in walker this morning at the linn county public service center. walker used a bible that belonged to his grandmother. he called this a tremendous experience. " i was overcome with emotion. afterwards when it all kind of set in and it's a wonderful thing, a sign of the progress of to the opportunity to serve. berlin, germany. students at kennedy high school in cedar rapids face unexcused absences for walking out of class today to emphasize unity while also protesting trump. "we love all" the students marched down 42nd street until they reached edgewood road. they carried flags and banners, chanting "we love all." while some of say their message was more about unity. this comes after similar protests across the country and in iowa city in the past week. the iowa racing and gaming commission is taking a step forward as it looks at whether cedar rapids should get a casino. we look at why they're setting up an application process for interested parties.
